Muharram is the first of 12 lunar months in the Islamic calendar. Yaw-mu ^Aa-shoo-raa` is the 10th day of Muharram and it is a day that is notable for a number of reasons.

In the Arabic language the term innovation bid^ah refers to any newly introduced matter, which is not based on a preceding example. In the religious context bid^ah is any newly introduced matter that is neither mentioned in the Qur`aan nor ordered by the Prophet.

On the 27th of Rajab, two years before the hijrah (migration), `Allaah granted that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ journey at night (`al-`israa`) in body and soul from `Al-masjid `al-haraam in Makkah to `Al-masjid `al-aqsaa in Jerusalem and make the ascension (`al-mi^raaj) through the skies.

Praise be to `Allaah, the Owner of the universe. May `Allaah raise the rank of Prophet Muhammad, ﷺ the greatest of the Messengers. `Allaah, the Glorified and Exalted, is the One Who created the skies and the Earth and Who Exists without being bound to place or time. Sha^-baan is the eighth month of the lunar year in the Islamic calendar and immediately precedes Ramadaan.

The Night of `Al-Qadr (laylatul-qadr) is a very great night in the blessed month of Ramadaan and it means «The Night of Greatness». This night was named as such due its great honour. There is a whole Soorah in the Qur`aan about the Night of `Al-Qadr, namely Soorah `Al-Qadr (S97) which is composed of 5 verses.

Praise be to `Allaah, the Creator of the universe Who exists without time and place. May `Allaah raise the rank of Prophet Muhammad and all of the Prophets. The five greatest Prophets and Messengers are referred to as `u-lul-^azm and in order of rank they are Muhammad, `Ibraaheem, Moosaa, ^Eesaa and Nooh, sallallaahu ^alayhim wa sallam.
